Measura: Scale Bridge

Privacy policy

Atomic POS ("Atomic POS," "we," "our," or "us") provides Measura: Scale Bridge, a companion application that connects a Bluetooth Low Energy weighing scale to the Measura service and Shopify POS. This policy explains what information the app processes, why we process it, how it may be shared, and the choices available to you.

Scope

This policy applies to the Measura: Scale Bridge native application and the Scale Bridge features provided by Measura. The main Measura Shopify application is also subject to the Measura privacy policy.

Information we process

1. Pairing and merchant information

When you pair Scale Bridge using a QR code generated by Measura, we process information needed to associate the device with the correct merchant account, including:

  • Shopify store domain and store display name.
  • A Scale Bridge device identifier and scale identifier.
  • The device display name supplied by the operating system.
  • Pairing, authentication, add-on entitlement, and POS assignment status.

The long-lived bridge credential is stored using the operating system's protected credential storage on the device. Measura stores a one-way hash of that credential for authentication rather than storing the usable credential in plain text.

2. Bluetooth device and scale information

While scanning, the app processes nearby Bluetooth Low Energy information such as device names, Bluetooth identifiers, signal strength, advertised service identifiers, and whether a device is connectable. Nearby scan results are used to populate the device list and are not sent to Measura merely because they were discovered.

When you select and connect a scale, the app may send the following information to Measura so the connection can be identified, monitored, diagnosed, and assigned to Shopify POS:

  • Selected scale name and Bluetooth identifier.
  • Advertised service and characteristic identifiers.
  • Connection status and connection timestamps.
  • Raw characteristic values in hexadecimal form and, when available, UTF-8 text.
  • Payload source, sequence number, characteristic identifier, and receipt timestamp.
  • Parsed weight, unit, stability status, and the time the weight was received.

3. Service and diagnostics information

We process heartbeats, last-seen times, synchronization status, connection events, queued delivery status, error details, and other operational diagnostics needed to run and support the service. Our servers may also receive ordinary network request information such as IP address, request time, endpoint, response status, and user agent.

Optional detailed connection diagnostics displayed inside the app remain on the device unless you choose to share them with support.

4. Camera information

Camera access is used only to scan the Measura pairing QR code. Camera frames are processed on the device for code recognition. The app does not take, retain, or upload photographs or video recordings.

5. Information you provide

If you contact us, we may process your name, email address, support messages, attachments, and any diagnostic information you choose to provide so we can respond to your request.

How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • Authenticate and pair the app with the correct Measura merchant.
  • Discover, connect to, monitor, and reconnect supported BLE scales.
  • Combine fragmented scale payloads and deliver readings to Measura.
  • Parse scale readings and make stable weights available to the assigned Shopify POS device.
  • Display connection state, live data, and diagnostics.
  • Protect the service, investigate errors, prevent misuse, and provide support.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce applicable agreements.

We do not use Scale Bridge information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell personal information.

Background Bluetooth

If permitted by the operating system, Scale Bridge may continue maintaining the selected Bluetooth connection and receiving and transmitting scale events while the app is in the background. This lets a merchant use Shopify POS while the bridge continues operating. You can stop this processing by disconnecting the scale, signing out of Measura in the app, disabling Bluetooth permission, or uninstalling the app.

How we disclose information

We may disclose information only as needed to operate the service:

  • Shopify: to support the merchant-authorized Measura and Shopify POS integration.
  • Service providers: to providers that host, secure, monitor, and support our application, databases, network, and communications under appropriate obligations.
  • Legal and safety purposes: when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users, Atomic POS, our rights, or the integrity of the service.
  • Business transactions: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to applicable privacy requirements.

Data retention and deletion

Pairing QR tokens expire after a short period and can be used only once. We retain device, connected-scale, assignment, weight, and operational records for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and secure Scale Bridge, maintain business and legal records, resolve disputes, and support merchants. Different records may have different retention periods.

Disconnecting or unpairing stops future use of the associated connection but may not immediately delete existing service records or backups. A merchant may request deletion of Scale Bridge information by contacting support@atomicpos.com. We may retain information where required by law or for legitimate security, fraud-prevention, dispute, and accounting purposes.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. Scale Bridge sends server traffic over HTTPS, stores its bridge credential using the device's protected credential storage, and uses scoped, revocable credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

  • You can deny or revoke Bluetooth and camera access in your device settings.
  • You can disconnect a scale or sign out from within Scale Bridge.
  • You can unpair a POS assignment through the available Measura controls.
  • Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability of personal information.

Contact us to exercise a privacy right. We may need to verify the request and the requesting merchant's authority before acting on it.

International transfers

Atomic POS and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you are located. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal information.

Children's privacy

Scale Bridge is a business tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to Scale Bridge, our data practices, or legal requirements. We will publish the revised policy on this page and update the effective date.
